Aromas of bright orchard fruit, minerals and some matchstick reduction that is a bit obvious (and led others to draw comps to Coche). Palate is bright and energetic though lacks concentration, which is the still-young vines coming through. Better in 3-5 years when this has more time to come together, and maybe just maybe put on a little more weight.

La Paulée Zachy's Auction (Mourad - SF, CA): Full crisp nose of minerals, under-ripe white and stone fruit. Very taut, crips and mineral driven. Clean and fresh throughout. Sea breeze finish.

Thought I'd try this after my experience of the '03 a few weeks back. Once again, perplexingly closed and inexpressive, mineralite, orange blossom and cream, but 1/10 on the intensity scale. Then suddenly at the 8 hour mark the clouds part: Spring blossom, orchard fruits, spice, exotic perfumes with what can only be described as a cognac like intensity with great persistence. But very complex and layered, the more you seek, the more you find. Feels like a bit of an endurance trial, wading through hours of nothingness to arrive at a great destination at closing time. I'd probably seriously suggest decanting if you wanted to try now, but based on this and the '03 I'd say put away for decades?

Starts out quite exotic and has plenty of spice. There are notes of feijoa, rockmelon and fig. It is rich and powerful and settles down in the glass, revealing more mineral as it breathes.

Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys La Paulée Auction (Mourad - San Francisco CA): Small glass, brief note. Floral with orchard fruit. Lots of interesting angles and edges make this very interesting, but certainly needing more time to realize its full potential.
