A no frills Bordeaux. Lots of smokey Merlot with a very notable green streak, leads the way with some tannic underpinning. Not much concentration or complexity. Great buy at <$12 for a very basic Bordeaux.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cherry. The body is light/medium. The wine has narrow texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has medium acidity.

From the Opimian Society: Over the years, Jean-Marc and Catherine have built up the estate from 27 hectares to over 100 hectares, the majority of which are used to produce red wine. Work in the vineyard is necessary to control the vigour of the vines, and control yields in the Entre-deux-Mers region where soils are heavy and rainfall plentiful. Grass cover every other row, bud removal on the Merlot vines, leaf-stripping and green-harvesting on Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are all carried out so that the grapes can fully ripen under these conditions. Château Haut Maginet 2015 is deep ruby in colour. It has aromas of black cherries and spice. The smooth palate has a more smoky avour with medium body. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc Black cherry, spices Smoky, dark fruits 18° C 2016-2019, M7 D8
Pork tenderloin with sage, garlic and honey
