13% alcohol. The cork is quite long and so smooth that you might think that it is reconstituted. Medium colour. The nose is an interesting mix of red and dark fruit (some even cooked); very harmonious but perhaps less vivacious than what one might expect from a Fleurie. Very comfortable in the mouth with some added liquorice and vg mouthfeel; superb acidity in the finish and convincing balance overall. The combination of ageing and the vintage results in an atypical Fleurie, but a highly enjoyable one.

We know what Roilette is capable of, which is why we cellar it. But as the drinking occasion approaches, we wonder what experience awaits us. In this case, the wine was less effusively fruity than Beaujolais can be, and instead showed an array of floral (poppies!) and sappy aromas in a mature context. Yes, very Fleurie, but also very Roilette. My only bottle of 2015, but if I had another, I'd open it in the next year or so.

A robust, dark drink. Sobbing profusely with black berry ink. Tightly organized and coherent. Iron and tar-scented earth. Lots of discrete, impulsive fruit sweetness strides weightlessly around gnarled, jointed furniture. What marked this as not-Roero-Nebbiolo were the curled, bobbed tannins. As far as music—with scented, bright fruit lyrics—it sings! Anise. French prune. Lilac. Framboise. Secondary flavor production is in full swing. It won't be time to panic drink your surpluses until well after 2025.

Smack in the middle of the drinking window. Outstanding QPR on a complex old world style wine that still has a bit of fruit.
