We drank with 1 hr decant with rare beef fillet. It began to open up but it never fully developed, still very enjoyable. Everything is in place, and as others have said it needs cellar time to open up the palate. I would like to try again in two or three years. Marked 89 on behalf of its potential. Could be 90+ in a couple of years. Don't drink yet.

Welcome back NZ, Cynthia! (Forrest Hill, Auckland): dark fruits, a dense fruity sweet core, cedar and some tobacco. M+ supple tannins, m+ bodied. Enjoyable now, one hour decanting might help. a nice Pomerol from a great vintage.
Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 3+4/10 Total 91+/100

Ruby Color. Nose is more cherries, bright intense sweet spices, cinnamon. Palate is rich, still tannic. Juicy berries, dark cherries, vanilla. MB MA MT MF

I think the previous ratings for this vintage of La Grave are a bit cosnervative. The frst sip is very nice (92?), as so many times before. When pouring a bit more, the wine is less fruity and the oak dominates. But I get the feeling is just a matter of a few years in the cellar. The nose is already quite alright and so should eventually the palate be. Will drink over several days and update accordingly.
Update: 8 days later and I'm still drinking on this wine. This vintage is a lot fruitier than previouls vintages, but without being fruitforward. I think the long term rating will be 92-94 pts.
Previously 1998, 2000 and 2005 from this chateau.
