  • From a half-bottle. Nice very dark red, bordering on what I call fire-red, with a black core. No bricking. On the nose upon opening, aromas of raspberries, strawberries, cedar. With added air, aromas of blackcurrant and Autumn leaves appear. On the palate, the attack is frank, fruity/tannic with the aromas as found on the nose, and a good acidity on the long tannic/fruity finale. Still quite firm, this doesn't seem to have budged since the last tasting. Unfortunately, this won't be accompanied by an appropriate pairing, but even alone, it is quite good if a little too firm. No rush at this point, probably ok for at least another 5-6 years. 90 or so

With even more air, aromas of redcurrant jelly appear. I have always like the way the aromas evolve over time with this wine. Next time, open a min. of 30-45 minutes before.

  • From a half-bottle. Nice medium-dark ruby colour slightly paler around the rim. On the nose, aromas of raspberries, slight red currants, chocolate and touch of tobacco. On the palate, the attack is frank and surprisingly powerful, leading with the fruit found on the nose, but following through with a nice blond tobacco, slightly milder chocolate, vanilla and a very good length. As noted by a previous taster, this can now be enjoyed without food - a clear change from when I tasted it two years ago. It still has slightly "pointy" grippy tannins, but they are a in proper balance with the red fruit and secondary aromas. Good precision and lift, this is not a "fat" pomerol, and is rather sinewy. This has satisfied the promise it showed when it was younger. Very good. A solid 90 leaning into 91. Next bottle late 2021 early 2022, and good for at least another 5 years from half-bottles. With a few hours of air, same nose with added plum.

  • Since I had this wine on 11-3-2019, the tannins have softened and the bitter chocolate finish has become smooth like milk chocolate. I believe this wine no longer requires food to enjoy it. With these amendments, wine was similar to my note of that date.

  • Deep garnet color. Very fragrant nose; Margaux like, yet a Pomerol. Mild tannins and acidity. Primary fruit of cassis and dark cherry completed by flavors of licorice, vanila, and plum. Drinking nicely now and probably will not fade for the next five years.
