B2+L1.5+I2+C2=7.5/8. 94. Deep garnet. Medium-Pronounced aroma. Good structure. Notes of ripe red fruits (raspberry, ripe strawberry) and black fruits (blackberry). Violet flower. Iodine. Rosemary. Bread dough. Buttery, roasted wood, chocolate. Caramel, walnut, leather. Geranium. Bell pepper, liquorice. Presence of oak (cloves, cinnamon, chocolate, roasted wood). Some tertiary notes (caramel, mushroom and tobacco). Full-boded, harmonious, silky, opulent. Decanted for 3 hours. Tannins are fine and smooth. Still developing. Very good wine. Paired very well with chicken & mushroom wrap.

The wine looks garnet-colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and raspberry. It tastes like raisin. The body is full. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Valandrau vertical (1991-2020) (Fribourg): Selected tasting notes from a complete Valandraud vertical (1991-2020) hosted by a collector with an estate representative. Main observation was that both the work the estate did during the transition phase 2000-2012 is clearly bearing fruit in more recent vintages, further helped by warmer growing seasons that are favorable for this cool site in St Emillon. Additional comments included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: Ripe and dark fruit along with dried flowers. This appeared slightly closed maybe but with intensity behind it. Sweet and dense palate, plenty of structure and tannin with good grip. Early days but with clear upside potential.

Really good wine, a cellar pull late into the evening had no time to decant. Young, needs many more years. The mid palate exploded with cedar, espresso, and mocha tones. Thick chewy tannin. A great wine, it is Bordeaux all day and that shines through and it has explosive, intoxicating fruit. This wine will be awesome in 10 years...

No notes, only impressions- three bottles were shared with friends: 2017 Roses de Jeanne Cotes de Vilaine blanc d Noir, 2015 Valandraud and 2007 Spottswood. Very eclectic mix tonight but wanted to check in on the champagne and Valandraud which I assumed would both be early and wanted to make sure we also had a wine in a great spot- mission accomplished.
Knowing it’s not ready, it was a chateau I really wanted to visit and had booked but the Tour de France blocked roads forcing the chateau to cancel. Having only had one bottle of the first label (‘16), I was looking forward popping one from the cellar with open eyes it would not be ready. Drank over the course of a few hours (in decanter) with the last sip being the best, this wine needs years in bottle. Dark fruits and slightly closed, hold for another 2 years before pulling the cork. This wine will be excellent in a few years 92.5 with lots of upside.
