Beautiful red colour, surprisingly light for a Languedoc wine. Beautiful, clean and fruit-driven nose typically reminding one of ripe Cabernet Sauvignon. Classical profile and very pleasant. The palate is good but a slight sweetness is discernible and the mid-palate appears a bit thinner than what could be expected. Very easy to drink nonetheless and the structure of the wine is finely wound together. Very good and can probably a wait a couple of years but not sure this will evolve significantly.

Dark red color with mature and warm center; on the nose at first a touch of cork taint which then dissipates. On the palate the wine was a tad austere: the tannins have eaten up the fruit and the wine showed tertiary notes. Fine and correct, but not beguiling or fascinating.

Pristine bottle, beautiful ruby red in colour. Good ringer for a Bordeaux with classic notes of tobacco and forest floor character. Lacked the oomph of the Trevallon but still the best MDG that I've had, more old school than the rather polished 2006 a couple weeks back.

Dark red color, still opaque in the center and scarcely lightening at the rim. On the nose complex and beguiling medley of smells: damp forest floor, mushrooms, leather dust, graphite and some cedar. quite intense and enthralling. On the palate: a fine coating of dusty tannins; wine seems to be drying out a bit. The bouquet is definitively more enticing than the taste. Still: the wine went well with the roast goose, bread dumplings and cabbage. On the whole I would say: drink upon over the next 5 years.

A magnificent Mas de Daumas Gassac vertical from the private cellars of Allard Jakobs (Restaurant Sinck, Amsterdam, NL): Single bottle. Last tasted 25 years ago. More to the lovage side, spicy and meaty, slightly tough and even a bit metallic, dry and not very welcoming. Not a perfect bottle? Low level TCA? Not rated.
