Monthly Tasting Group HWS: Clos des Papes (By AH): Complex bouquet with flowers, white fruits and some honey. On the palate also complex with butter, minerals, pineapple, some fat in a positive meaning, pineapple, good acidity and some pleasant bitterness. Beautiful, full bodied and mature wine. Not a bit too old. Impressive!
Idealwine dinner: A very typical Rhone white that I didn't care much for. Nutty, heavy, and oxidative without much acidity, not compensated by depth and complexity that was evident in the Sorrel Rocoules a couple of weeks back.

From 75cl, good cork, opened but not decanted 1 hour. Fabulous bottle. Thick rich candied lime and kumquat/tangerine peel scent with some very heady citrus blossom at the very end of the bottle. Thick-textured palate, with honey unctuousness and the bitterness of propolis, real structure and a high-wire act between implied sweetness and definite dryness. Fine grapefruit bitterness on the long finish. The sheer concentration is more reminiscent of an outstanding Grappa than a „mere“ wine. A bargain at the €35 paid, even the current auction price of €79 seems entirely reasonable for a bottle in good condition. 92-93P

From a Coravin sample. Very nice maturity and complexity with melon and peach . Very good balance and finish, an attractive wine ready to drink. Fruit very much present with more than decent acidity levels, overall a very good impression.
