This was about the same as I remember from 2014 but seemed even more open and more complex with a meatier under tone. Tough to imagine wine much better than this.

Upon first smell I thought this was La Tache. There was so much Hoisin, beef stock, black tea and grated ginger on the nose. In the mouth it is full, sweet and ethereal. It has excellent volume and really fans out on the finish. Leroy made superb ‘00’s and this is a beauty.

Took three hours to open up. Initially very muted on the nose. It then splashes out with spice, herb, berries, perfume and red currant. The wine opened up in the glass. The fruit is forward, sweet and alluring. Palate is expressive and silky but slightly lean for a Leroy grand cru. Give it at least 5 more years. This is still too young to unfold it's layers.

200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): First statement: My kind of wine! Floral, elegant, cured meat, cinnamon, ethereal, light. Simply stunning. Stunning.
