  • Surprenant pour le prix. Boisé bien intégré, moka, cassis , cerise, pruneaux confits. Fin et long en bouche.

  • Needs to breathe for a while. Lots of berry, bit of tobacco, nice finish. Better with a meal than by itself.

  • 89-90(+?)pts. Very good QPR here - true, it still is a bit young and has harsh tannins at the end. The oak treatment has also been a little too much here, but otherwise this wine delivers all the varietal notes of Cab Sauv for a really good price. Buy.

  • 86-89 range. Good QPR @ $14. Better than many Cali Cabs at twice price. Needs 1 hr of air, so open early. Tastes real. Aging potential 5-10yrs. Nose: strong cassis, and some drying notes: leather or cigar box. Long and drying on palate. 30-45 sec finish. Lacks the roundness or complexity of a Bordeaux blend.

  • 14% alcohol, 4,7 g/l acidity. Tasted blind in VV.

Dense and almost fully opaque black cherry color with a youthful blue hue. The nose feels somewhat reticent and lacking focus, exhibiting vague, ripe aromas of sweet dark fruits, some blackcurrant jam, a little bit of savory oak spice and a hint of chocolate chips. The wine is medium-to-moderately full-bodied with slightly reticent flavors - like the nose - feel rather vague and lacking form and shape: some ripe dark fruits, juicy dark berries, light blackcurrant jam flavors, a little bit of savory wood spice and a hint of cocoa. The wine feels medium-to-moderately tannic with piling-up grip on the gums, whereas the acidity feels quite low, making the wine feel somewhat flabby and dull. The finish is soft and fruity with medium-long flavors of blackcurrant-driven dark berries, some chocolatey oak, a little bit of savory wood spice and a hint of jammy boysenberry.

A robust and somewhat underwhelming Chilean Cab that feels like it is undergoing a dumb phase or then it is just made in a less expressive style. And this less expressive doesn't mean "more sophisticated", "complex" or "European", because the wine is still pretty recognizable as a Chilean Cab with its low-ish acidity and blackcurrant jam tones. Pretty much a ho-hum wine with nothing worth of note. Somewhat overpriced for the style at 12,49€.
