Very good potential but pretty shut down right now. Huge step up from the CdB Savigny and Pernand 1ers, with legitimate grand cru intensity (if not weight), but this is fairly one-dimensional at the moment. Nice acidity and minerality.

Visit to Chandon de Briailles-2015 Wines (Savigny-lès-Beaune, France): Also full ruby. Ripe cherry aromas and almost chocolatey richness on the attack. Then excellent acidity and a "snap to attention" finish with lingering limestone. Like 2 different wines at this point-great fruit upfront, and the essence of minerality to finish. Exciting potential and I loved tasting the distinct components at this stage, but it will need a long time to knit together and become a unified whole.

Pure fruit on the nose, lifted, generous with notes of crushed stones, spices. Quite complex and layered already. On the palate mineral again with lots of ripe fruit and good acidity. Polished but powerful tannins. Spicy, long. Very good, but 50% up in price compared to the 2014, in GBP terms at least. 91-92+
