  • Chandon de Briailles Tasting: Superb balance, with more classic flavours compared to the riper vintages. So floral with an almost candied strawberry note, mixed with forest floor and creates a vivid imagery in your mind. Very subtle, restrained, just delightful! Drinking well currently in my opinion but could get even better in the following years.

  • Really a delight, even from the start. The ‘17 Chandon de Briailles Corton-Bressandes is pleasingly built, offering red apple, mixed berries, potpourri, and a bit of sauvage just as beautifully potent on the nose as it is on the palate. I’m surprised to find this so approachable now, though the balance is so nice and the constituents so healthy that I’d imagine this could easily cruise for decades, even if it never reaches the high highs of Burgundy.

  • Really strutting its stuff already, this is impressive. Airy and lifted on the nose: ripe red and blue fruits, fennel pollen, roses, roasted meat, baking spice, moss, pine forest... supple and silky on the palate, beautiful subtle grip, fresh and elegant yet full and rather rich... this is what Grand Cru Burgundy is all about! Brilliant stuff. This will develop for another decade or more and should be worth following many years beyond that.

  • Served by the glass. Correct and representative but without soul. On the nose just a glimpse of wet soil, mushrooms or black truffle. Funky I see, funky I want. Without harmony or precision. Memories that pile up without forming an integrated whole. Something similar happens on the palate where a thick texture is mixed with a lot of energy. Tannic and rough in the throat. It lacks a special interest at the moment. Much better the recent white Charlemagne.
