Medium garnet. Pronounced nose of raspberries and watermelon. On the palate medium acidity medium body medium alcohol cherries and baking spices and salinity. Long finish. Outstanding wine.

Poured an hour before tasting. Mature, slightly browning violet. Cherry and licorice nose. Palate is a little flat right now, lots of sous bois, not quite enough fruit or acidity, but a great floral element. Impressively long finish, minimal silty tannins. Very good as a food wine, absolutely lovely with coq au vin, but doesn't quite stand on its own at present.

VIP Burgundy Tasting (The Wine Club, San Francisco): Aromatic nose with red fruit, strawberry, hints of smooth asian spice; palate is smooth, integrated tannin, almost a little minty/menthol, good depth of fruit; medium-long finish. This is excellent quality, lives up to its grand cru name. 92

United Cellars Grand Cru Burgundy tasting (Harbour 220/L15 131 Macquarie Street): A cornucopia of autumn berries, a bonfire in a dew laden garden, a cold pre-winter day, kicking leaves, a tin of cake spice by an oak chopping board, clove, cedar, Crazy nose. On the palate the wine is fresh, juicy, loose limited, the berries are ripe without being overtly sweet, tannins are silky and gossamer. Long, ethereal, young, but glorious. Second tasting reinforces this but the tannins are a bit more robust on this bottle.
