With our good friends Leslie and Michael coming for dinner I opened this bottle 3 hours prior to their arrival and decanted two hours prior. The nose is dark fruit and a hint of red fruit. The palate is blackberry, cassis, tobacco, with a hint of mocha. The finish is long with a hint of spices coming through.

Decanted for 3 hours. Bold aromas of lavender, black cherry, crushed rocks and graphite. Medium-full bodied with grippy tannins that became silky over time, leading to a 15-second finish.

Floral Notes with black cherry, plum and licorice. Complex wine with firm tannins and tasty minerality, blackberry and black cherry. Decant for at least 3 hours.

opened up in about 45 minutes. Beautiful nose of clove, dark fruit dominated by black cherry and a touch of leather. Taste had black cherry, cassis and blackberry and some mineral touch. The tannins were soft but fully integrated for a long fish and a touch of leather and chocolate. This wine has a lot of life to go and will only get better.
Lighter than expected on opening with a Very Bordeaux nose and first taste. After an hour Very refined with a lots of astringency. Thick legs after 3 hours in the decanter on this full body cab. Lost the “Bordeaux” after some time and showed its Napa roots Just can’t put my fingers On the taste and i am usually pretty good. Earthy is all I could come up with. That’s when I use the term refined meaning the winemaker was able to put together the flavors perfectly without over weighting any one specific taste. Overall a good bottle but I must admit not worth the price. I can spend much less for better with ease. Phelps insignia is one of my long time favorites but I was hoping for more here. I actually rate insignia higher and prefer it to backus.
