Cork desintegrated while popping. Had to coffee filter it. No signs of seepage but this is passed the curve. A bit too much stewed fruit for my taste. Senile traits are starting to arrive. Time to drink up if you have any left. Luckily my last bottle.

Gorgeous! Fruit forward and palate flooding. Red currant, cherry, ripe plums stewed in brandy, all that one could hope for, yet balanced and pleasing. Nearly unctuous. Even in the 15-20 year aged range these wines taste youthful with no hint of senility.

Quite good. Color showing some beginning age. Nose of warm ripe cherries, hints of varnish, brown sugar and other ripe, mature notes. Palate blossoming over two hours to nice black cherry compote and earth. Ripe and fairly full bodied for a pinot, with excellent balancing acidity. Delicious, perfectly at peak, not too ripe or too much cola. Excellent length, lots of complexity - tapenade, various sugars, some sous bois. Superb with olive oil grilled salmon. Drink now, and for another 6 years or so.

NSMFOW December '08--BYO Yankee Swap (The Grapevine, Salem, MA): Dark ruby color. Nose of dark cherry, band-aid, some spice. Palate of jammy cherry, kirsh, spice, some earth. Tannins well-integrated. This has held up pretty well and was probably too over the top when it was young.

Better than the bottle I had last month, but generally the same impression. Perhaps the pasta went better with this bottle.
