Ruby red in color. 14.9% ABV. Brooding nose of red fruits, sage and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Rich and lush with an abundance of earthy fruits. Perfectly balanced. Cherry, cranberry, earth and minerals on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. A little more earthy than previous vintages that were endowed with great purity of fruit. Delicious nonetheless. Best over the next 3-5 years.

Monster Pinot is right… not sure why the need for such concentration and high ABV. Seems like the mentality is go big or go home. What’s wrong with crafting Pinots that represent the variety instead of pretending to be a syrupy sweet Syrah.
Seems to get worse by the vintage, not just this producer but many in general (Martinelli now into mid 15% abv). There is something to say for nuanced wines.
Think I need to look elsewhere for future purchases of Pinots that taste like Pinots. Oregon perhaps, or specific wine makers that make more restrained wines. Recommendations welcomed.

A monster Pinot at 14.9% (!), but fruit, acidity, tannins, and alcohol all in a wonderfully voloptuous, if not slightly too concentrated, juicy Pinot. Pale ruby in color, the nose was explosive with big ripe, black cherry notes, vanilla and a touch of baking spicy, and burnt of leather and cedar box. On the palate, super juicy - ripe black cherries, blueberries and the earthier aromatics becoming more prominent. Overall, a solid PN at $45-50 retail on release and drinking well. I prefer a slightly less concentrated, lower alcohol, and earthier style of PN but certainly would not complain if served this. 91 points.
