  • Mid red with some bricking at the edge. A fairly ripe Nebiollo nose- dark plum, a touch of mulch, a bit of typical tar. Quite beguiling anyway. The palate opens with ripe fruit as well, quite gentle, forward tannins. Not particularly “ethereal” but gives a lot of pleasure today. Drink sooner than later at a guess.

  • The nose was rich and seductive with sweet black cherry giving way to brown spices and dark wood tones. On the palate, I found a soft expression as ripe red fruits were offset by zesty herbal tones and acid, as fine tannin slowly set in toward the finale. The finish was long and spicy, as dark red fruits slowly faded, leaving a web of fine tannin across the senses. The Mondoca shows the ripeness of the vintage, yet it remains nicely balanced and should enjoy an early and wide drinking window.
