  • La Festa del Barolo 2023: The '13 Mondoca was very impressive in my opinion. The nose was gorgeous and wide open, while the palate showed intense structure and tannin in need of a lot of time in the cellar to come together. This, along with the 2016 Brunate served alongside it, shows that I clearly need to taste more from Oddero.

On the nose, I found a textbook bouquet of sweet red berry fruit, fresh red roses, mint, and minerality, showing great freshness and purity. On the palate, the wine was much more imposing, with classic medium to high acidity and lots of structure. The tannins are of high quality, but distract from the fruit at this stage. On the palate, I found the same red berry and rose flavor profile, along with some raw meat, spices, and menthol. It is a concentrated, powerful wine in need of time, but the beauty of the flavor profile can already be appreciated especially on the nose.

  • Drank this with Pinot Peter. Dark. Decanted. Fragrant of dark fruit, dark cherry and licorice nose. The fine tannin envelopes the mouth but shows again on the finish of the finish. Acid is prominent, too. Will benefit from many years in the cellar. 24 hours later the fruit is more prominent relative to tannin. Exciting!

  • Light red in colour, good acidity, nose of slight tar and raspberry, a well balanced wine. The tannins are mild and blend in with copious red fruits , a mouth full of fruit flavours with a taste of tar and leather. Just a hint of astringent tannins at the back of the palate. For a light bodied Barolo this packs a lot of complexity of flavours.
Very approachable and drinking well at this stage for me.

  • Shows a lot of promise given the lovely perfumes. That said, while the palate is fairly available right now, it's not terribly complex. This is just a baby, and for my palate, needs another 7-8 years before it's entered its preferred window. Impeccable structure; HOLD. For its full potential, this is highly recommended

  • good acid, tannins softer than expected, noticeable fruit increasing with each additional glass. Left over night and tasted the next day. A much more approachable wine, very pleasant, more fruit evident, less astringent.I very much like this as a young 2013 wine but will let the rest of my bottles evolve for at least 2 years before tasting again.
