Very similar notes to the last time. Maybe a touch more of the secondary earthiness coming through. But still quite a lot of the fruit in the drivers seat.

Tasted at The Wine Society UK's tasting of USA wines, London.
A great opportunity to taste a pinot noir at 7 years since the vintage. Not surprisingly the medium cherry colour has a little browning on the edges. The nose is lovely, mature fruit, cranberries. The palate is full, rich, smooth with great balance of acidity. Long. Very good.
An elegant wine. Still young, fresh, and vibrant. Fig, strawberry, pomegranate, some baking spice, earthiness. Lively on the palate. Great acidity. Well balanced. Everything carries over nicely to the finish.

Brought a bottle to celebrate my wife's birthday. First taste was a bit closed. However, the longer the wine decanted the lovelier it tasted. It just kept getting better and better over the course of dinner. Still young for sure, but the complexity, depth, and elegance emerged like a flower in bloom over a period of an hour and a half. All this belies the fact that the wine is so light on the palate and just wonderful to drink. Toward the end of the bottle, notes of fig, orange, and baking spice came unexpectedly to the fore, but the way in which these married seamlessly with the strawberry and pomegranate that characterize the wine itself is a testament to the terroir and Hanzell's winemaking team. Simply delightful...thankfully we've got another bottle left and I plan on giving it another 5-7 years to develop even further. I may even call the winery to see if I can get a few more...
