Super dark in colour! Nose of dried orange peel, dark chocolatey wild red fruits, a little spicy! Slightly sweet on the palate, red currant fruits, smooth, not silky smooth! I characterised it as a bottle of fine claret, drinking beautifully now!

(Château Phélan Ségur) Bricking dark red violet color; appealing, maturing, tart currant, tart plum nose; mature, tart currant, cedar, tobacco palate; medium-plus finish (like many '99 Bordeaux, this one's on a fast evolutionary track)

This was rather thin and rustic, good to see that Phelan is making much better wine today than this.

Tawny edge, ruby core.
Good tannic grip still there. Nose of forest floor and cold coffee. Tasting notes of cassis, herbs, leather and red berries.
Short finish. Nice overall, underrated vintage.

Not so present like my last bottle but very enjoyable. Typical claret. Nice qpr!
