  Nicely aged peaking Phelan Segur, still quite fresh therefore enjoy now or in 3-5 years. Made from a blend of 46% CS, 50% Merlot, 4% CF. Deep garnet colour, ruby hue. Medium+ intensity aroma of cassis, kirsch, earth, vanilla, spices, pastry, toasted oak, dried violet petals, hint of tobacco. Medium+ body, elegant and delicate structure, quite saline at entry with flavours of earth, fragrant dried flowers, cassis, sour cherries, fine and polished medium tannins. Lacks a bit of ripeness and depth.

  Zurzeit sind die Jahrgänge 2005 und 20ü6 sehr sonderbar. Als wäre im Keller herumexperimentiert worden. Zum 2006: In der Nase erste reduktive Noten, dazu dunkelfruchtig, Kaffee und andere Bitterstoffe. Auf der Zunge runder, dunkelrote Beeren, Graphit, Bitterschokolade, fast keine Tannine mehr. Der Körper ist mittel+, ebenso der Abgang, aber es bleibt nicht viel, an das man sich mit Freude erinnert. Der Wein ist durchaus komplex und interessant, aber enttäuschend für einen Phélan Ségur – zumal zu dem Preisniveau – und ein Zeichen dafür, wie schwierig das Jahr 2006 war. Keine Kaufempfehlung, leider.

  Intense, dark red colour. Mocca, Tabaco nose. Round, Mocca, Tabaco notes, intense Cabernet driven Bordeaux. Needs 3-4h to be open, it is a must! Drink this wine now or in the next years. This Phelan-Segur is now on the top to drink with great pleasure. (Kork was broken, but the wine was great.)
