  • Lovely nose silky tannins, decanted and took about 30 minutes to open up, got better with time.

  • Nice Ruby coloor and ready to enjoy from bottle without decant. Extreme full nose of blackfruit, medium, smooth and sweet tannins, hints of earth. tobacco and leathy, but body and finish are below medium or less enjoying. Vintage is not perfect but still very amazing, keen and very interested to try other vintages.

  • Rang out 2017 with this lovely bottle. A nice left bank wine with a bit of graphite tobacco and hints of spice. A very medium body wine with little tannins and red and blueberry fruits were light. Would like to have had a little more fruit come through here. I opened and decanted for couple hours then drank over the next couple hours with seared filets with red wine mushroom sauce and King Crab legs. Probably should have concentrated on this one and not mixed in a Robert Storey Grand Napa Cab in between kind of distracted but last glass was best and not one to place windows but I would probably be looking to drink this one sooner than later as I'm not sure it's going to get a whole lot better. Overall a great way to end the year and look forward to more happy wine drinking experiences going into 2018. As I get older I hate to not experience more of what I might not get to LOL.

  • Neck level. Pale ruby some garnet rim. Attractive bright dried black and red fruits, intense smokiness and tobacco notes, leather, hint of savoury. Light and layered. Wish I had more.

  • Food: Cantonese @ Chairman's Place Hong Kong
    Duration: 2 hours
    Condition: Perfect, decanted
Aroma: smoke, black fruits, some graphite on the acceptable level (some graves just too much)
Notes: since it was a relatively quick dinner so had very little time to breathe, I decided to decant it and it worked out okay. Quite smooth and silky and I would say it's a pretty typical good pessac. I have to say I'm actually a big fan of 1997 Bordeaux left bank, not only can you get these wines at a relatively cheap price (comparing to other vintages), it's also pretty mature and quite ready to drink. In fact I think for most 1997 there's around 4-6 years of drinking window left before it will start moving downhill dramatically. I really enjoyed this wine and I would drink up this wine if I had more before it goes downhill.
