Nose: graphite, leather, smoke, black fruits, raisin, violet Notes: It's been a while since my last vintaged Bordeaux from the 50s. This bottle demonstrates excellent color and without a doubt it is in a pristine condition. It's still amazing for me after drinking for so many years that something at this age can still have so much fruit left and so coherent. Energetic is probably one of the keywords I have for this wine. This wine is a combination of passion and tenderness together. Definitely one of the nicer La Mission I've had that's fully mature but all of the nose, the color and the palate would argue back that this is a much younger version of itself and if I see another one in similar condition I will not hesitate to get another one. For sure one doesn't need to wait further to enjoy this spectacular wine nevertheless I do feel there could be another 10-15 years left in this wine. Drink: now+ Rating: 93

Just Wow!!! Completely mesmerized that this held on for this long. 63yrs and still had some punch going on. Used the Durand to open this up and it worked like a champ. Cork was soaked but fully intact upon removal. Straight PNP, duh with a bottle this old. In the glass, was surprised by the color as it looked 20s yrs in age at best. Brownish rim with cola and violet accents. Fruit was still there with a tart cherry/red fruit. . Soil and leather on the nose. Almost like a worn leather dress shoe. Tons of earth/soil. Complexity was there but nothing amazing. Honestly the wine was balanced from start to finish. Again, just surprised this turned out so well considering the aging. That’s quality French wine for you! Cheers!!

Wow, still drinkable. Cork in excellent condition. Fill level in bottle at about mid shoulder. Almost no aroma. Body fairly thin. Taste start with some very slight residual acidity, but blends into a mushroom note followed by a subtle plum base note. Drank on Christmas 2020. Purchased at a garr davis hart auction this past September.

Leaning to the tart, bright, fresh side of the red berry range, the wine offered an earthy, woodburning nose with cedar, tobacco leaf and herbs that paired perfectly with the piquant, cherry and cranberry notes. Not very concentrated, but the crisp red berry fruits, with a hint of tartness, were still hanging on.

20 Old Bordeaux grand cru classe - vertical and horizontal semi blind Wine tasting dinner (DK-Frederiksberg): Tasted against vintage 1958. Impressive fruitiness after so many years in both vintages. However a little bit of TCA in 1957 which gets worse after some time in the glass. Vintage 1958 is flawless and after some time in the glass it gets better and better and ends with a score of 90++.
