Still showing a resilient reddish purple color with little sign of age around the rim, this beast is opening up and starting to show off. Intensely floral ripe black currant leaps out of the glass with pretty vanilla and bergamot aromas, and a meaty character over a charred wood backdrop. Curry leaf and the freshest leather aromas might transport you to a shoe store in your memory. The palate is rich and fruity yet requires food for full enjoyment, the tannins are still flexing. The fruit character underlying is stellar and evocative of its McClaren Vale habitat, I’ll hold a few more years before opening another.

Pretty simple - tons of primary, ripe blackcurrant fruit, not really enough tannin or acidity, let alone any true Cabernet character. Served its purpose as a sweetish foil to some cheese, but otherwise not much of a pleasure.

Intense nose of blackcurrant, earth, and earl grey tea. Palate shows flavours of blackberry, plum, and black tea. Very dry, with strong, fine-grained tannins, but no astringency or bitterness. Appealing, but seems fairly closed - needs a decade or two to open up.

Australian Far From Ordinary Tasting (Chicago Athletic Association - Chicago IL): Walkaround tasting, brief note. Tannic beast with lots of ripe fruit, lots of power, but off-center for now. Not my style.

The King is in the House -- Cabernet (Mike's House, Prior Lake MN): Tight and tannic. Almost unfair to rate. HOLD for at least 3-5 years.
