  • The last one from my cellar to be consumed and it was surprisingly still good. If there are any left out there in cellars i would not tempt fate and drink them up.

  • This is still holding on. Slow ox overnight then to decanter for a couple hours. Round, plush, rich, a bit dusty, dark fruits. Could still go a little longer but no need to hold at 19 years old. Probably better a year or two back but I have no complaints.

  • Wow - what a surprise. I will happily give this wine one of the highest ratings it has received in recent years. I bought this wine on a whim many years ago at a supermarket and liked it so much I wonder if it would age well. It does indeed. Still very dark on the color, so right off the bat, I knew it was still at least ok. The nose was still very complex, some nuanced fruits, charcoal, fig perhaps - just very well rounded. A touch soft on the tannin I will admit but two hours later showed no signs of fading into a higher acid wine like so many "fruit bombs" do (another experienced taster I was with disagreed with me). Finish was long with even a touch of bacon fat and smoke on the nose. A really good bottle of wine regardless of the value, I will likely age some newer vintages.

  • Still very drinkable, full bodied with a great finish. Probably near its peak.

  • This is a conundrum. This first bottle might have turned, or be turning. Cork crumbled. Nose of serious old work funk and must. Not Petite Sirah-like at all. But rich purple-red color, and lush in the mouth with brooding inky thickness. Finishes very dry. I'm completely on the edge with this wine. Is it flawed? Is it turned? Is it just completely strange and out of whack to my palate against other reviewers? Giving it a 90 just on promise. :-) Our second bottle, someday, may tell more truths.
