Epic Napa Trip - Day 1: Tasted at Kistler's Trenton Roadhouse - One of my favorite vineyards! I was anxious to taste this as I have 3 bottles in my cellar. I will wait to open mine based on this tasting, as I believe it is still improving. Lots of tropical fruit, creamy pear and some tart green apple. The wine also showed sea breeze minerality and some toasted oak. In a good place now, but will get better, IMO. I will start opening mine next year and re-assess. 94 today, should improve, and my second favorite Chardonnay in the lineup.

Napa trip day 1: Drank a glass over one hour at the winery. For chardonnay this seems middle of the road stylistically. I can taste a little more age here and it becomes effervescent with time.

Brie cheese rind on the nose, with a little match stick. Saline notes, mandarin orange and melon on the palate, along with strong savory, almost cheesy notes. Super buttery on the finish. Not exactly deep or subtle but quite satisfying nonetheless.

Popcorn with a few burnt kernels, pond water funk, lemon, salt, pears, ginger. Medium+ acidity really long finish.

Almonds and butterscotch on the nose. Good acidity. Lots of depth and layers to the lemon, green apple and honey flavors. Delicious.
