2013 vintage popped in May 2023. Beef burger night pairing. (EDIT - perfect with beef burger, cheddar, caramelised onions.) Glass cork, unexpected curve ball. Why on a £100 wine? I have been storing it standing up. Anyway, after a valium I calmed down. Popped and poured. Delicious, could age but no need to wait. After a few weeks of sampling various left bank Bordeaux, a little New World ripeness touched me somewhere special. Black cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant. Get stuck in.

Intense berry fruits have a vibrant minty edge. There’s a base of sensual, velvety tannins upon which fresh fruit and flora flavours play. It is deep and powerful; yet supremely elegant with near perfect balance.

Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.): This is always a favorite for me in the line-up. I'm especially a big fan of the older versions of these which seem to age just perfectly. Another dark and brooding style of wine. Lots of darker cherry. Great baking spices here. Really nice acid. Touch of lavender. This feels like a wine that's just brimming with potential and will be amazing in 20 years. Very nicely done.

2 weeks in Australia with a stopover in Singapore; 6/14/2019-7/1/2019 (Singapore, Sydney, Adelaide, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills): Tasted at the winery. 88% Cab Sauv, 7% Cab Franc, 5% Merlot. The nose on this also has a bit of funk but also lots of eucalyptus notes. This is a softer styled Cab Sauv with a nice core of acidity. Very nice to drink and accessible with long dusty tannins on the finish. Really enjoyed.
