A touch oxidized on the nose initially, but didn't persist. Very good showing, and was opened for a "newbie" who wanted to dry an aged and slightly oxidized champagne. Drunk with pleasure.

Nose of caramelized sugar, brown cane sugar, orange marmalade and of course the Chinese salty plum (話梅). To be precise, it's salty plum that has been dipped into Shaoxing wine (紹興酒). Very fine bubbles and the wine was surprisingly sweet on the palate for a Champagne.

Tasting Group Dinner (Jeff's House): Dark amber color. Heavily oxidized/maderized, with mostly nut/sherry flavors. The rest of the group liked this better than I. Interesting but strange. Not sure if this is a representative bottle.

Wow, this was a showstopper! This rare and not particularly good vintage brough us a sensationally fresh and complex wine. Amazing.

Clearly some maderization going on here, but my "Brit" palate liked it a lot. Will drink the other bottles with pleasure.
