  • Ruby color. A beautiful nose with blackberries, ripe strawberrys, black pepper, dark chocolate, toasted vanilla, black olives and violets.
The body os full and rich, the tannins are smooth at this point but what impressed the most was the endless finish.
    Great Syrah.

  • Glistening ruby in colour, with a peppery nose of sweet red strawberries and cranberries, violets, blackcurrant leaf, a meaty and sexy layer of olive tapenade, garrigue and smoky graphite minerals. The palate is lush, harmonious and juicy, with an enveloping freshness and sweet tinge. Superb.

  • Initially some farmyard funk on the nose. This dissipated following a short decant.
Intriguing nose, a lot of aromas that words cannot describe. Definitely ripe fruit. Hint of white pepper.
On the palate this is very good. Violets are big here giving the sweet finish I always like. Medium bodied. Long finish. Balanced alcohol is not perceptible. Tannins are as previously described - powdery, chalky.
This was definitely better than the first Cote Rotie I had many years ago by Bernard Burgaud.
Very good value. From Lay and Wheeler but alas no longer available.

  • Delicious right on PNP. Mid weight, delicate expression. Plenty of great fruit and certainly not lacking in body, but it's the balance here that's really appealing. Classic bramble fruit, heady perfume, olive, pepper, and stone. Great showing.

  • This looks much less dense and purple than I expect from Syrah- more garnet, less opaque, with a watery rim. The nose is similarly lighter; it’s lifted, fruited with raspberries and cherries, along with oil preserved black olives, smoked wood, and black peppercorns. In the mouth, the body is only medium, again this is lighter than I expect from Syrah. Acidity is medium, the tannins are fine and they have a powdery quality. The flavors are split between red fruits and smoky olive type flavors. There is an intriguing anise note on the finish that I really like. This is such a nice wine; and while I typically prefer Pinot to Syrah, this sort of wine reminds me that I should spend more time drinking Cote Rotie.
