Friendsgiving Dinner (Schur House - Riverwoods IL): Red fruited with charming florals and medium weight, this hints at simplicity but then carries on. Malconsorts is rarely forthcoming this young and even 2017 doesn’t provide an exception. Good tonight but 90+ point potential from 2027 forward.

Young and still buttoned down and not expressing its potential. We did not decant so not sure if that would have helped at this stage. The quality was there and underlying elements all solid but just the wine is not at its singing phase yet. 91 for now and hopefully patience will be rewarded.

Lovely nose of plum, crushed raspberry, red berries, violet and subtle vanilla on the nose. A bit tight initially, but opens with air and showing excellent quality. You can sense intensity and hints of mineral and savoury notes. Quite primary, but concentrated mouthfeel, cherry confit, with elevated acidity. Day two, lovely deep mouthfeel, smooth red fruit, polished and glossy tannins, some crisp wood and spicy notes emerging towards the lingering finish. Clearly a well made wine and real potential. 91+

Very similar to my previous note…. I will add that at the $110 price I paid, I would say ok for that, but if $200, I would say not worth it.." Maybe that is the case with all burgundies, and the high prices…. It’s hard for me to find reasonable QPR in burgland…. And alas I suppose I will never price get to experience the mid to upper tier of burgundies…..

I broght it to Neighbourhood Restaurant in Central with friends from SH. It did not served well as it openned and poured, lack of aroma, felt young.
