  Decanted for four hours. So utterly close to perfection. How could one not be gobsmacked by this? Blackberries, saline, wet earth, rosemary, cedar and flower shop. Distinctive, layered, silky tannins and a finish that sails on and on. Full-bodied palate and this almost weightlessness throughout. There’s cut and vibrancy. Impactful and just stunning. So much finesse and of course this will age with panache. Delightful today; a couple more years will not hurt, then follow for many. Drink 2026 -.

  Gang of 4 Sweet Lake Farewell tasting (@ RW): Truly beautiful wine, but honestly, after the other great wines we had this evening it disappoints a bit, probably because we had high expectations. In the bouquet dark and red berries, spices and black plums. On the palate dark and red berries as well, herbs and spices, juicy and round acidity, forest floor and slightly sticky tannin. Beautiful and still youthful wine. Might gain some points with more ageing. 93 – 94 for today.
