Served completely blind to me. I thought 'wrong' new world style, but once the supplier told me that it was an European bottle I almost immediately said 'Bernard Magrez style and probably La Tour Carnet' which seemed correct: overripe fruits, wrong type of acidity and definitely a wrong type of bitter originating from an amount of new wood that would Robert Parker make proud... For me this is an undrinkable style. 78 is even a gentle scoring I feel (and I don't like the idea of putting your picture on a bottle...)

I have had a few bottles of this wine. While none have been spectacular, they have always been decent. Tonight it tasted like I was licking the inside of an oak barrel. Nose was still nice, fruit was there, but tannin noticably harsher then other bottles I've had. I like well structured wines, but this one turned my tongue into beef jerky after one glass. Nothing leads me to believe the bottle was flawed, maybe just some bottle variation or a weird point in it's life?

Got a bottle from Costco for about $50 to try based on ratings on this board. Couldn't be disappointed more but may be one-off bottle to give it a benefit of doubt based on 91+ rating on this board. Decanted for 1 Hr before first glass. Underwhelming nose, medium to full body on palate without any prominent fruit or flavor component from the barrel, and mouth-drying racy tannins on finish. Nothing ever came together over next 3 hours. May be this requires few years of bottle aging but not sure where the wine will find its fruit and flavors from, just not in the juice from what I can sense. If you love layered, aromatic complexity of California or Washington Cabs only slightly above the price range of this wine, skip this one.

Opened yesterday and it's a beauty. Lovely nuances of tobacco, rich red fruit, and some pleasant earthiness. Soft firm tannins. Would definitely buy again.

Same bottle accessed by Coravin in May. Drank over two days, alongside the same vintage Capbern.
Not quite a slab-sided beast, but certainly a non-charming behemoth. Heavy extraction and oak treatment, followed by noticeable alcohol. Generally placeless. It should evolve for a few years, but I do not expect improvement.
