My fourth wine from Fratelli Brovia and my third Ca mia, previously 2013 and 2014. This is a serious wine wihich is starting to drink well but also a wine that will only improve the longer it is cellared. One can really sense the potential in the fruit. It is just waiting to unfold.

Absolut brilliant Barolo from this extraordinary vintage. What always amazes me about this vintage is that it’s always open for business. Beautiful bouquet of dark, slightly sour cherries, some violets, slight peppery notes and typical earthy Serralunga notes. The tannins are ultra refined but very powerful, with time it even picks up gripp and power. It will be exciting to see, how this evolves over the next decades, but it’s a lot of fun right now.

Brovia's 2016 Brea Vigna Ca'mia is another fine Barolo in this excellent vintage. Ripe acidity frames dark cherry and an earth and cinnamon-heavy profile. Serralunga depth of fruit but also inwardness at this stage of life. Drink starting 2026.

2016 Barolo Check-in: A "wow nose" of floral notes (mostly roses and violets), cherries, and fruit. Evolving beautifully in the glass with different aromas emerging every time you give it a swirl. Well balanced palate with strong, late hitting tannins adding structure and lots of red berries and cherries. Long finish. This will be amazing in 10-15 years. 95-97+
Note: Bottle was opened a few days before tasting.

iron, blueberry, hint of cough medicine; similar on the palate; quite blue fruited for a barolo, hints of cocoa, very nice although a bit atypical.
