Drunk at a restaurant. From memory. Nose shows signs of evolution and starts mushroomy, but these notes slowly move to the background, leaving in the foreground fruit (red, but not quite fresh anymore, rather mcerated in alcohol), the classical roses, and some forest floor. All in a nice, smooth package. Intense, deep, muscular and very smooth on the palate. Tannins still present but well integrated and fine-grained. Alcohol sticks out a bit.

Deep translucent garnet. Classic aromas of roses and tar, with a hint of licorice and some strawberry. Bright cherries with some tea and leather notes with still substantial tannins. This was very good, but needs quite a few years to hit maturity.

The nose shows nuances of garden flowers, freshly dug earth and a bit of tire rubber that I often get in Syrah, along with a suggestion of dried flowers that I think will emerge more with time. The palate shows good balance and plenty of stuffing, the structure is still formidable, with the tannin dry yet sweet, with dry red tea notes. The palate is user friendly and yet there is plenty in reserve here, plenty of fruit and plenty of structure. Are people really debating whether 2000 Barolo is at peak? Not this one. Not as burly as I recall the '99 Ca' mia four or five years ago, less coarse, less powerful, more refined, but still in need of time.

very nice, smooth, modern style barolo; not heavy tanins, but nice structure and flavor, buy more

Very tasty w/plum notes. Not too tannic but rich for Barolo.
