  • Note to myself: this is quite round and approachable after an hour+ decant. But plenty of gas left in the tank. Still primary.

  • Deep purple color, almost black/opaque
Medium plus aromas of blue/ black fruit and green stemmy notes - animal notes/ smoke/ dry earth
Medium plus bodied with palate of dark fruit and meat
Medium plus alcohol with medium plus tongue coating tannins and medium plus acidity
    Well balanced and delicious presently
Tasted with several other northern Rhone Syrahs - this was very rustic /animal compared to others and I really enjoyed that

  • Dark purple
Aromatics medium. Dark fruit including black plum. Dust, dark meat. Dry herbs. No new oak
Palate has medium + body. Acid medium. Tannins medium and well integrated. Alcohol medium +. Black cherry and smoked meat.
Finish has a medium + length. Balanced
Overall, nice rustic example of northern Rhone.

  • I forgot to take notes on day 1, but on day 2 this is super perfumed. Nose: violets and licorice over a strong core of iodine, smoked brisket, and cracked black pepper. Almost a nori note. Medium plus tannin, medium acid. The wine comes across as rounder on the palate--more duck breast than brisket. Violet is still the main fruit, but it's backed by some dark fruit and violet.

On day three the nose is more floral more perfumed. Duck breast, cloves, orange peel, bacon fat. It seems lighter on its feet today. Palate is still deep and dark--nori, iodine, plums, brisket. Tannin also more prominent than day 2.

After a handful of revelatory experiences, I am trying to get more into the Northern Rhone. This wine shows why cool climate syrah can beguile. Would love to try this in 10 years where the game becomes more prominent.
