Super long et bien persistant.
    Très bon.

  • I knew this was probably too young, but I wanted a Northern Rhone to go with the lamb roast dinner, and this was the most ready-to-go in my cellar by CT drinking window recommendations. Opened the night before but left in bottle, spent about 6-7 hours in a decanter the day of, but still tannic, and reticent, the hints of bold black fruit not quite wanting to fully emerge yet. By dinner time, the nose was very inviting and in full bloom, but the palette still felt quite closed, tannins were giving a little, but still dominating. Will see how this does on 2nd and 3rd night if it makes til then. Needs another 3-5 years at least.

  • Tasted at Syrah seminar - no formal notes
This was the darkest, most brooding of the six wines presented
Dominated by deep black fruit on the nose, with game, tar and licorice aromas
The palate was full and inviting - again dark fruit and florals with dry earthy notes
Tannins strongest of the night - this really showed what Cornas is made of, especially against other N Rhone wines (we didn't have an Hermitage)
Could definitely benefit from another 3-5 yrs of aging as palate was dominated by the tannins

  • Very much a Cornas (and Northern Rhone) novice, but we really liked this. I got the notes of smoked meat, pepper, etc. that I know enough to expect and it was great with smoked pulled pork. Summer and grilled meat make it a good time to reach for something other than the typical Italian reds.
