  • Unfortunately seems to already be past its prime with some oxidative notes on the nose and largely tertiary notes on the palate. It did improve somewhat after opening, but it seems this 2005 is not very long-lasted & nowhere near the highs of the 2000 vintage for this estate.

  • My colleagues and I organized a mini Canon vertical to redefine the scores in relation to the fabulous 2022 vintage. Naturally these notes correspond to an "M" moment and are likely to vary at another moment.

    1) 2021 (sample) 96,8/100
    2) 2022 (sample) 96,5/100
    3) 2020 95,8/100
    4) 2018 95,4/100
    5) 2005 95,1/100
    6) 2019 94,6/100
    7) 2016 93,4/100
    8) 2017 92,8/100

  • Very friendly, very drinkable and very interesting Merlot. I think it's in its peak, because sweet acidity and well blended soft, but grippy tannins are top notch, especially in long finish that is mix of coffee, milk chocolate, spice and cedar. Wine is definitely on sweet side of the dry wine. Red and black cherry, plum, coke, milk coffee, milk chocolate.
Black and red fruits in smell.
Short review, but this is very delicious, old Merlot with great balance and harmony.

  • Maybe on the downslope but still enjoyable to drink. Does not feel ripe or extracted at all. All the St-Em markers are there with an emphasis on secondary and tertiary flavors and aromas. It went well with grilled lamb chops. Based on this bottle, drink sooner rather than later.

  • Not as big as some Bordeauxs, but a very good wine. It is nice to have a well-balanced, nicely woven, medium weight Bordeaux that is ready to go and fits a nice niche in food pairing. It also is at the tail end of its drink-by date. We picked up red currant and anise highlights to go with the rest of the Bordeaux flavors.
