Orange gold colour. Cork disintegrated so this had to be sieved and decanted. But what a brilliant aged Barsac.
Sweet apricot, pinepple, mellow honey and mature, rusty oxidated note. Very nice balance; not too much acid just mellow, pure and refined. Long, complex finish. Stunning.
This was served as an aperitif paired with shirako (cod milt) and mullet roe (aged 45 days). An utterly unexpected pairing yet it worked so well!

Doisy Danae 1989, 33 year old Sauternes. High shoulder when i bought this 2 years ago. I had opened the wine 2 hours prior tasting. Nose opens up with aroma's of burned apricot, beeswax, orange zest. Mouthfeel is elegant, balanced, time has resolved the sugar nicely.

Half bottle purchased in 1992. Pristine condition, level < 1cm below the cork, 14% ABV. Vibrant, pale golden colour with a hint of orange; the nose needs some time to open up and performs best at a slightly higher temperature, wonderfully clean botrytis, apricots and orange marmalade, floral and fresh, spiced honey, saffron and a hint of vanilla; the palate is elegant and quite youthful for age, fresh and juicy, with a light to medium sweetness balanced by the bitters from the oak; the finish displays a touch of coconut, it feels relatively dry and length is very good. Lovely complexity and freshness, but in this small format completely ready. Drink soon.

Tasted like orange marmelade (with the bitterness of the orange peel), combined with the sweetness of honey.. This wine is on it's peak, don't wait to long!

Color: deep, old gold core -> light yellow rim. Unbalanced bouquet of acetone and black tea with some toffee, apricot and ginger in the background. Palate reinforced the questionable nose with black tea notes dominant and scorched apricot and peach taking a backseat. Some butterscotch and caramel along with a tremendous amount of sweetness still, but this was pretty obviously heat damaged somewhere along the way. Too bad as this can be just a wonderful Barsac.
