A second Imperial tonight, after the glorious 2010 (by La Tour de By standards, I must add). This 2006 unsurprisingly showed a more mature, more leathery, earthy and drier profile, consistent with the vintage and the terroir. A solid northern Médoc, showing very well from this Grand Format at 12 years of age, lively and refreshing.

Drank the wine over 4 days. When opened it was disappointing, because it was unbalanced and the tannins dominated. It took until 4th day until balance was established. Overall nice to drink, but nothing to write home about. I think this will be an everyday wine as of 2017+

WSET Level 4 Course - WSET School; 9/6/2014-5/23/2015 (WSET School, Bermondsey): Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Medium Ruby colour. On the cusp of Ruby and Garnet. Nose: The nose is Clean and Developing , showing Medium intensity primary aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, secondary aromas of cedar, toast and tertiary aromas of leather. Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium level of acidity. It has High Soft tannins and a Medium(+) Level of alcohol (13.0%). It has Medium body and Medium intensity primary flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry , secondary flavours of cedar, toast and tertiary flavours of leather. The finish is Medium(+) Overall: The wine is well balanced, with well integrated black fruits, soft tannins and acidity. The wine has good complexity due to the presence of primary, secondary and tertiary characteristics. It is has good concentration leading to a good length finish. Conclusion: It is a Very Good quality wine. Drink Now; not suitable for Ageing or Further Ageing. The fruit, soft tannins and acidity are well integrated. There is a good balance of primary, secondary and tertiary characteristics which I am not sure will further improve with further ageing; High-Priced (£ 16.99 )

Bottle was first really closed, took some time to open. It's not very complex, I was a bit disappointed by this wine. Nothing special I'd say. Go on, try others.
