A little firm. Graphite sticks out the most. It may have required a longer decant, or perhaps the bottle is closed down right now. Cigar box. Sweet spices.

Medium purple. Nose shows plum, pepper, and smoke. Full-bodied with structured tannin and balanced acidity. Finish is medium-long with a hint of oak. Generally a well-made and fruit-forward wine.

Deep ruby color. Robust brooding nose of rich dark fruit, vanilla, toasted wood, warm spices. Dry, bright acidity, structured tannins, palate follows through. Full body, great balance, medium long finish. A great QPR wine for sure, but not ethereal.

Everyone loved this wine, but for me, it was third best relative to a San Leonardo and Malescot-St. Exupery. The fruit of the Clos Apalta was simpler and more cloying, without the richness of pepper and tobacco of the San Leonardo or the earth of the Malescot. All three wines will improve greatly with age, but this one needs improvement more than the other two.

First dance with this bottling. For my palate this is still a young wine. A hefty decant is need as this is ripe and firm upon opening.
Next bottle 2028
