  • Tasted at a school fundraiser La Paulee. Dark ruby with pink rim. Blackcurrant, dark cherry, blackberry, capsicum, black pepper, spices, cedar, light smoke and tobacco. Full-bodied, medium acidity, medium-high tannin, medium structure, medium-high alcohol and long finish. Complex, well-balanced, layered, and silky. Very well-made. Tasted like a Left Bank classified growth claret with distinct Chilean notes (capsicum and black pepper).

  • My experienced with chilean wines is very limited. But this wine is beautiful. Tons of sweet oak aromas, cinnamon, leather, red and blue fruits that come in layers. The wine fills the palate with an explosion of fruit that coats the whole palate. Even though there is an acidity backbone in the wine which will let it age effortlessly I found it a little bit too lush at the moment. 92+. Would love to retry with some more age.

  • James Suckling 99

  • Nose was rather restrained but had cassis, blackberry jam, pencil shavings, green pepper. The palate was also restrained with cool lifted black fruit on the midpalate and then appropriate acid and fine tannin on the finish with great tension. Such a quality and well done bdx blend that to me straddled the line between the old and the new world. This was still too young and probably requires another 5-7 years to come into balance and develop more complexity.

  • Oh, the oak. But, damn, it fits the carmenere green pepper so well. Red fruit and a little smokiness are there too. Some nice general freshness. I wish the Merlot would work a little harder to give it a more rounded mouthfeel. Slow oxed for an hour. I sometimes play around with the notion of, egads!, waiting on a bottle to age until the oak is really integrated to see what the carmenere can do. I simply don’t know if I have it in me—love this stuff.
