Dark brooding nose of black fruit and plum. No herbaceous or cedar or earth, just fruit. Initial tastes were of pure fruit, mostly blackberry and maybe blueberry and plum. After a couple of hours the wine seemed to go dumb with the tannin and alcohol prevalent so I corked it and let it sit overnight in the fridge. 24 hours later the wine woke up again after warming to room temperature of 70F. The aromas are still dark fruit but the wine has once again started exhibiting fruit on the palate as the tannin has integrated more firmly. Same dark fruit but now a nice 10 seconds finish is present, suggesting another year or two of bottle aging will improve this wine. St. Emilion merlot is so good.

Typical 2019-Bdx. Fruit forward, plum and blueberry in the nose. On the palate the tannins are well integrated. Lacking the "Wow"-effect, but pretty good for the price. 92

Apparently this and the second wine have all five bordeaux varieties. Rich and explosive I am being told. Old vines on the top of the situation. Richly oak and showing it on the nose. Palate a bit wound up too but nothing not to like or drink at this stage.

St. Emilion Grand Cru Classés Walkaround tasting, so just short notes (Amsterdam): 70.4% Merlot, 18.5% Cabernet Franc, 7.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1,5% Petit Verdot, 1.3% Carmenere and 0.9% Malbec. Beautiful bouquet with sweet spices and herbs. Same on the palate, a touch of sweetness, beautifully fresh acidity, round tannin and a good length. Beautiful wine which will improve with another 4+ years of ageing.

Dark fruit without slapping you in the face, medium body, pencil shavings and a little tobacco. Fine tannins and balanced with acid.
