  • A blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, and 5% Cinsault. 15% ABV. Medium to dark ruby colour. Wild berries on the nose. Sweet berry fruit, chocolate, garrigue, pastille, spices, vanilla, liquorice, black tea, and stony minerality on the palate, with medium-minus acidity, firm tannin that is hidden underneath the generous fruit, and very good length. Medium to full body, with good concentration, and notable sweetness from the ripe fruit and high alcohol. The wine benefited from aeration, and the tannin softened and the wine found balance after about an hour in the decanter, but it remained tight. Consistent on days two and three. Impressive for a standard cuvée! Needs some time to soften the tannin and open up. I would hold, and only drink from 2027.

  • From coravin. Remarkably juicy and expressive. Cedar, fruit and vanilla on the nose. The palate has juicy sweet red fruit, more cedar, mineral, acidity and spices in the finish. Perfect with grilled chicken. A couple of days later, I opened the rest of the bottle and enjoyed with grilled bacon cheeseburgers and portobello mushrooms, pan seared potatoes with onions, rosemary, and duck fat. Fantastic pairing. 92/93

  • Excellent balance of dark and red fruits; balance of tannins and acid; very smooth and medium bodied

  • Vinetasters: 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Skokie, IL): Served double blind. Mute nose, but with some coaxing, notes of black currant, most reminiscent of Ribena. This has that same sweet, somewhat cloying quality on the attack, but then there's a fairly empty midpalate, and then the typical bitter tannins on the finish. Feels hollow due to the missing midpalate, and in fact, I'd say this even lacks structure because the tannins don't show up until the very end. My 8th, group's 10th.
