3-4h of air. Deep, shimmering ruby color. Aromas of black raspberry, blackberry, truffle, coffee, white pepper and dried herbs. Full-bodied, creamy texture, deep and dark black fruit flavors, with an earthy streak and highlights of truffle, winding into a lingering spicy finish. Potent, with a sinewy tannin frame that helps create a sense of order and harmony. This has at least 5 years of life left in it, maybe even more.

Needed time. Lots of time. This smelled and tasted like a feedlot for the first 45 minutes. Setting aside and going back to a Tablas Creek Dianthus Rosé that I had not finished, this one was much more inviting on the second round....an hour later. The nose would indicate that this is going to be a full bodied wine on the palate. But it would be wrong. The nose would indicate this was still going to be on the savory side. Again, wrong. Nose was boiled plum, cherry blossom, overripe black cherries, mushroom au jus. The palate has more fruit presence on a medium density wine. Campfire toasted figs and black cherries. Tobacco leaf and black tea. Herbal influence with some mushroom and bacon fat. Finishes with more acidic character than the front and went well with a chicken, mushroom and brussel sprout pasta dish. This wine was doing well, but glad I gave it the time to figure itself out. Drink or hold up to 5 years.

Already very good. At the beginning of the drinking window. Should be better in 3 to 5 years.

Très belle couleur, dense, odeur épicée, goût de réglisse.
