The start of a summer weekend in NYC (Maialino): Not sure about this. Decanted off sediment. For the first hour, this was in good form. A bold, fresh nose and similar palate redolent of olive and anise. Then, a potent off-flavor developed and grew. I thought maybe TCA. The sommelier suspected VA.

This was really good. It started out as a big rich full cab with some age; red currant, a bit of tuscan funk/ forest floor. Then it was like a great old bordeaux; pencil lead, a touch of green and dark iron fruit. Lovely. Worth the wait.

The nose was dark and brooding with crushed plum, raspberry and currants, notes of spiced tobacco, graphite, and mineral stone provided depth. On the palate, intense, rich, and somewhat savory fruit was kept fresh by balanced acidity as notes of dark red and black fruit, tobacco, and cedar covered the senses. The tannins here were perfectly integrated and provided a peak drinking experience. The finish seemed to slowly melt away from the palate with saturating plum, spice and lingering notes of tobacco. I’ve enjoyed Nemo many times; this was one of the best ones that I’ve had the pleasure to taste.

B-day Bash - Carlisle, BDX, Nemo and more (Danny Brown - Queens): this was the WOTN for many. for me it was 3rd but mainly due to my personal preference. True cab nose - pencil/graphite, black fruit. rich mid with tobacco dominating (this wine is like smoking a cigar). Great acidity keeping this fresh and making you want to drink more. Lots of strength on the finish. excellent.

smoke, raisin, green pepper nose. Dense inky black...deep current, anise, raisin, tobacco with pepper, long, long oily finish and lots of aging tannins....serious cab.
