  • Dark impenetrable black with red edges. Huge ripe blackberry and spice nose. Rich, mouth coating berry and currant flavours and a rich dry extracted finish.

Huge wine. Needs years of rest or if you love Napa drink now.

  • The attention seeking bouquet pops with its notes of flowers, tobacco leaf, spearmint, cocoa and sweet, ripe, red fruits. The wine is elegant, refined, soft and complex, with a finish that is long, refined, complex and gentle. This is a fabulous example of a baby Pichon Lalande that will drink beautifully on release, while offering pleasure for up to two decades. As the quality here continues jumping in class every year, this is becoming a true Pauillac brand, instead of a second wine. Drink from 2023-2040.

  • 2021 Bordeaux Tasting Trip; 7/12/2021-7/16/2021 (Bordeaux): A tasting in Bordeaux of 71 wines, some of the best I have ever had and others, umm, well were disappointing. If you read the Tasting story (and my grading history) I think it will do a much better job putting this in perspective.

What a beautiful second wine, and frankly a great wine in its own right. This vintage for this wine is excellent. It so so damn compelling and a glimpse into one of the wines of the vintage, the Grand Vin, Lalande Comtesse.

This wine has all the goods, and I was so floored by it, I bought another case before even getting back. Great wine and QPR in 2020.

  • Spicy, floral and fresh, with a peppery tint to the red berries, the fruit is creamy, soft and polished. The core of ripe, elegant, silky, red fruits ends with a cool, savory, spicy touch. As the quality here continues jumping in class every year, this is becoming a true Pauillac brand, instead of a second wine. This was made from blending 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. 92-94
