  • Big fruit flavors - blueberry, cherry combine on the palate with a little spice and licorice to create a nice and crowd-pleasing bouquet. The wine has pretty mild tannins and medium length finish to really make this a nice casual drinker. Agree with producer in that it would pair very nicely with many tomato-based dish. Highly recommend this wine - its a great value and beats out many wines that are 2-3x its price.

  • Tasting this again (see 12/18/2022), I think I ever so slightly underrated it in the earlier score--I had trouble imagining that a Bonarda under $10 could be this good! So this time around, although the wine hasn't changed, I've raised the score to 91 points. Raspberries, spices (especially cinnamon and cumin), earthy minerals including a metallic note, faint herbs (thyme? rosemary?), a hint of citrus, and some apple peel in the quite respectable aftertaste. My personal sense (possibly wrong) is that this will only fade with aging and is at its best right now. [Tasted from the Jancis Robinson glass.]

  • A pleasant surprise. Herbs, earthy minerals, raspberries, cherries, gentle tannins, a faint faint hint of cumin, and a touch of apple peel in the aftertaste. Vividly present, both in the nose and the mouth. Really a very nice red wine, and remarkable at the price. I personally would not try to age this wine. (Tasted from the Jancis Robinson glass)

  • This is a good wine that is quite impressive for $11. The aromas are Mourvèdre-like—blackberries and game. (Bandol was my blind guess.). The tannins are very serious, and the fruit has mouth-staining weight. While the back label says to “age up to 4 years,” i wonder if this wine would taste better 8 years from now.

  • Good. Dark ruby color, long legs. My seasonal hay fever has made it a challenge to taste test wine, but it has a nice mouthfeel, much like Rhone wines that don't see oak. The alcohol is well integrated. Certainly a very nice wine for $10.
