Cherries, a little plum, damp earth, graphite, a hint of oregano, and a hint of flowers, maybe lilies on the nose. Cherries, earth, cranberries, and a hint of herbs on the palate. Good, though somewhat moderate acidity, grippy tannins, medium finish. Overall, this was solid and tasty, and worked well with food.

Fresh and youthful with a vibrant clarity that matches the visual appearance of the wine itself. Bright and not tart acidity, perhaps less earth and mineral notes than I typically expect from this wine based on prior vintages. A bit cherry-forward. Easy to drink now, I think I’ll wait a couple of years before opening more.

Mount Etna (Hinchcliff house, Young Street): Medium plus intensity aromas of cream, red hued fruit, a little spice, tiny wood glue note. Medium plus intensity acidity, very slight sour red fruits, quite hard without being particularly tannins, finishes with alcohol warmth. Hmm.

Somewhat pale in color compared to the swaths of intensely extracted reds surrounding it. That said, intense, tart, bright red fruits, volcanic, grip.

Heavy on the fruit at the beginning but gets more spicy and earthy with time. Nose was much better on day 2
