  • Full-bodied, dense, sweet, jammy fruit. Tannic, oaky. A bit much but still very good.

  • Dark red in the glass. Red fruits & a bit of alch on the nose. Nice mouth feel, and good fruit across the palte, but stangley this was a bit disjointed. Still seems young. Also some kind of chemical/acid at the finish I did not care for. I got this on-line so perhaps the storage has not been kind to it as I normally find Elderton's quite solid.

  • Pop-n-pour. Medium bodied. Slight bricking. Lovely mature Barossa red. Drinking perfectly now and wouldn't hold for much longer.

  • Drinking about peak or slightly past it. Colour did not have much bricking. more of a deep plum, the nose was more telling with some currant and blackcherry fruit but also lots of mint and dried herbs , palate was more of the same, slightly sweet up front - again currant and blackcherry fruit with some blackberry, but with a distinct acidic "bite" and a dry finish. Tasty but not that lasting on the finish. Nice wine with a steak but not that memorable.

  • I scored 93, wife a 92.... bought this and put in cellartracker as a 3L.... what a surprise (good?) to find out this is a 6L! Was sipping on it, thinking we should have made a "dent" in it when I finally noticed this.. but on to the TN..

Nose dominated with Blueberry and tobacco, with strond cedar underneath. A good deal of spice, especially pepper, on the palate with bing cherry running throughout. Chocolate (as I have come to expect from Elderton) on the finish. Wonderful acid levels that are high, but not too high to enjoy this iwne on it's own. (Marinated chicked and girlled in-the-husk corn were tonight's fare). Good length (20+sec) finish. A surprise to find out this was a 6L and not a 3L.. normally would be VERY happy.. but was not prepared tonight for the wife and I to finish such a bottle. Will post follow up note tomorrow if any significant change.

Checked other bottle ordered with this one... a 6L of Command '98 that I originally ordered as a 3L. Wooohooo!! Anyone open to a trade? :D 3L's are good.. 6L's are too much for the two of us ;)
