Upon opening and for the first hour, I would have scored this undrinkable to maybe 82 points. But for the first four hours or so, it slowly improved and stayed there for a few hours. The nose has some funk on it, but not unreasonable. Brett for sure. Lots of cherries as well. An initial blast of tartness smoothed out then disappeared leaving nice cherries on the palate. Not the most complex, but solid. Good finish. Probably not a long life ahead, but certainly very enjoyable at this point. That said, if you like old Beaujolais, no hurry, give it some time to blow off the bottle stink.

BRET BRET BRET. My wife could barely drink it the first hour, but then it slowly blew off. Definitely losing fruit quick. Not bad, but not what I was hoping for.

After a corked bottle, two lovely happylicious bottles. One I drank beautifully over three days--wafts of cranberry-cherry fruit with light earth/black tea notes. I poured this for francophobic friends who really enjoyed the style of the wine.

Funky and barnyardy nose with maybe a little bit of brett. Intense with great fruits (both dark and red), floral, spices with a hint of greeness. This is serious Morgon which "Pinote". Complex, fresh acidity and supple tannins, it is drinking very well right now. Needs a little time in the decanter. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

(Jean-Paul Thevenet Morgon Vieilles Vignes) Intense nose with pure and very ripe fruit. Very expressive on this day. Dense, mouthfilling and packed with and spice. Just a tiny hint of brett. So for all you 2005 Thevenet-haters because of the elevated brett levels, including me, this wine is for you. I loved this. 678.96 gold stars.

Same as before but this bottle was a little less so, if that makes sense. I still prefer Foillard or Lapierre to be honest.
